Application of Titanacycles to Heterocycle Synthesis: Phospha‐ and Arsacyclobutenes

Abstract

The titanacycle 1 as partner in a ligand exchange reaction makes 2, the first arsacyclobutene, accessible in 50% yield. The NMR spectroscopically quantitative reaction was also used, in an analogous way, for the synthesis of the phosphacyclobutene 3. The reaction should have wide application. The four‐membered ring is almost planar, both in 2 as well as in 3. (Figure Presented.)
