Abstract
A model describing cation distribution and defect concentrations in iron-aluminate spinels is presented. Cation distribution equilibrium constants are derived from phase-boundary data at 1500 degree and 1280 degree C. Estimations of the defect concentrations for the entire solid solution are possible using defect equilibrium constants.
