Abstract

We present an experimental characterisation of cyano-substituted p-phenylene vinylene model compounds and polymers. The photophysics of these samples in toluene solution are investigated using steady state and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy. The influence of cyano and methoxy substitution on the energetics and the natural radiative lifetime are studied.
