Abstract
This article presents experimental observations of the Harris-type ion beam cyclotron instability. The measured parallel and perpendicular wavelengths, and frequencies are in good agreement with the linear dispersion relation. No significant deterioration of plasma confinement, beam distribution, or plasma heating was observed due to the excitation of this particular instability.
