Abstract

The organopalladium(II) complex 1 is reduced by methanol to the hydride-bridged Pd(I) complex 2, which was crystallographically characterized. A mechanism involving electrophilic attack of a cationic palladium hydride intermediate on a Pd(O) carbonyl complex is indicated.
