Abstract
The infrared spectrum of CuNb(OH, F)7· 3H2O confirms the presence of the NbOF2-5anion. Disorder in the crystal structure of CuNbOF5· 4H2O caused misleading bond valence results and led to the assignment of the incorrect formula.
