Abstract

An η1-aldehyde complex, Mn2(CO) 9[Me(Ph)C=CHCH2CH2CHO], was isolated from the reaction of α-cyclopropylstyrene with wet HMn(CO)5; the crystal structure of this unusual compound confirmed the η1 (σ) bonding of the aldehyde oxygen as an equatorial ligand on Mn2(CO) 9.
