Structural principles and amorphouslike thermal conductivity of Na-doped Si clathrates

A study was carried out to examine the fundamental principles that underlie the characteristics of Na-doped Si clathrates. Na8Si46 was measured over the temperature range 80-200 K. The thermal conductivity of this system was found to resemble that of an amorphous solid.
