Abstract

Reaction of [(PMe3)3RhCl] with pent-4-ynoic acid yields the novel exocyclic methylene-substituted rhoda-lactone [(PMe 3)3ClRh-C(=CH2)CH2CH 2C(=O)O], which reacts with Me3O+BF 4- to give [(PMe3)3ClRh-C(=CH 2)CH2CH2C(OMe)=O]BF4; both complexes have been structurally characterized.
