Columnar stacks of discrete Cu3Te3 six‐membered rings in which each copper atom is also coordinated to a Te 32− chelating ligand are present in the crystals of 1 (depicted on the right) and in the isomorphous compound 2. The stacks are held together by Te…Te interactions; sodium ions are located in interstitial sites between the rings, and Ba2+ and Te2− ions cocrystallize for charge neutralization. Compounds 1 and 2 are semiconductors with a narrow band gap. (Figure Presented.) (Formula Presented.)
